NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)—The Krewe of Bacchus is remembering when actor Val Kilmer reigned as Bacchus during their Mardi Gras parade back in 2009. The Bacchus parade rolls every Sunday before Mardi Gras on the Uptown parade route. it is named after Bacchus who was the Roman god of agriculture, win e and fertility. In an interview with WGNO the movie star spoke on New Orleans' recovery after Hurricane Katrina. He said, "First time I came after Katrina there was a lot of hardship. It is so encouraging to see how fast the community can rally." ‘Tombstone,’ ‘Top Gun’ star Val Kilmer dead at 65 Val Kilmer is best known for his roles in "Willow," "Tombstone," "Batman Forever," "The Saint," and "Top Gun."
