Minot City Council members voted unanimously to appoint one of the six sitting members of the council as mayor, to finish out Ross's term, which ends in June of 2026. But they have to wait at least 14 more days to do that. That's because within that time frame, the people of Minot have the option of petitioning for a special election to elect their own representative.
