County administrative building turns blue for Child Abuse Prevention Month

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the County Administrative building is illuminated blue because of it.
County officials said the building will stay that way throughout April to remind everyone of their role in safeguarding children and reporting suspected c
hild abuse.
This year's theme is, "It Takes a Village: Understanding and Expanding the Concept of the "Village.""
On April 4, the community is encouraged to wear blue for "Wear Blue for Kids" to raise awareness.
On April 25, the Kern County Department of Human services will release a 2025 Child Memorial video to honor children lost to neglect and abuse. You can watch it by clicking here.
Several Kern County churches will participate in Blue Sunday on April 27 on National Day of Prayer for victims of child abuse. For more information, click here.
