Tanker truck crash causes fuel spill, prompts road closures in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Several lanes were blocked off in the Great Falls area Thursday morning after a tanker truck crashed, causing fuel to spill onto the road.
In a post on X, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department said the truck began leaking gas on Difficult Run.

azmat crew is currently working to clean up the spill at the intersection of Leigh Mill Road and Kelso Road.

Police noted that first responders would be in the area throughout the morning and encouraged drivers to find alternative routes.
The following roads will be closed until further notice:
Leigh Mill Road at White Chimney Lane to Leigh Mill Court
Old Dominion Rd between Towlston and Falls Run Road
Kelso Road from Leigh Mill Road to Brian Jack Lane
