Weather Forecast: Enjoy the last 70° day before a long cooldown

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - A dramatic morning with strong storms and plenty of lightning for those to enjoy as a warm front moved overhead. Now we can enjoy the warm air as temperatures push all the way up to 70 degrees by lunchtime. It is still windy with gusts over 40 mph through the afternoon.

see temperatures slowly fall today and there will still be an afternoon to enjoy with some partial sunshine.
Friday is quiet with brief high pressure overhead. The jet stream activates Saturday and forces a long stationary boundary to establish from Texas to Maine, placing Rochester on that line. This means rain for Saturday and it's a soaker, easily over an inch and there could be some minor flood issues, especially if this continues into Sunday. The GFS is a bit more friendly in kicking the system east Sunday afternoon compared to the weter GFS, but showers will likely linger at least through the mornig. Both days are spent mostly in the 40s and 50s.
A northwest flow on the back edge of the storm's exit will mean a drop in temperatures, but there shouldn't be much in the precip. Department outside of some random flurries/drizzle. A more established front comes through Tuesday to bring wind and rain. ...read more read less
