The Trenton Police Department is seeking new law enforcement officers. The department aims to build a team focused on safety and well-being for all Trenton residents.
The department is looking for candidates between 18 and 35 years old with a valid New Jersey driver’s license and a high school dip
loma, GED, or state equivalent certificate. Applicants should have strong employment histories and must pass a physical fitness agility test, meet standards set by the New Jersey Police Training Commission, and clear a background check.
“The Trenton Police Department is rooted in the community, and our mission is to build a police force that reflects the community we serve, ensuring fairness, trust, and respect in all interactions,” stated Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson. “We are actively recruiting passionate individuals who possess a strong sense of duty, a commitment to community service, and a desire to make a positive impact.”
The department offers incentives including an option to bypass the New Jersey Civil Service Entry Level Law Enforcement Examination. Officers will receive paid sick leave, vacation days, access to specialty units, and uniform allowances.

Applications will be accepted through PoliceApp from April 1, 2025, to May 1, 2025. There is no application fee.
