INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Moderate to heavy rain will return for this afternoon and evening. Flooding concerns will be possible stretching into the weekend.
We had some tornado reports across parts of the metro area last night. The National We
ather Service in Indianapolis will be heading out doing some surveys trying to figure out how strong the tornadoes were and how many touched down.
A few spots are seeing some minor flooding with water on the roadways. We do have a Flood Watch that is in place until Sunday for much of Indiana due to moderate to heavy rain that will continue over the next several days.
TODAY: A mild morning across much of the state with temperatures into the ’60s. Mainly cloudy skies through much of the day today with temperatures climbing into the mid and upper ’60s. The first part of the day will be dry but more showers move back in later in the afternoon and also into the evening hours. Winds will drop out of the southwest between 5 and 10 mph.
TONIGHT: Moderate to heavy rain will be likely for the evening hours. We could pick up several inches of rainfall across parts of the state. Low temperatures will fall right around 47.
TOMORROW: Some dry time early Friday morning but another round of rain will move in. It could be moderate to heavy at times heading into Friday afternoon. High temperatures on Friday will climb into the lower 60s. A round of heavy rain and even thunderstorms possible on Friday night. Some of the thunderstorms could be on the stronger side and right now it looks like the main threat will be some heavy rain and strong winds.
The Storm Prediction Center does have much of Indiana under a marginal risk that’s a level one out of a level 5. A slight risk which is a level two out of a level 5 across parts of southwestern Indiana. Flooding concerns will be likely as these storms continue to move through.
7 DAY EXTENDED FORECAST: More rain will be possible heading into Saturday with high temperatures in the lower 60s. We could pick up anywhere from 4 to 7 in of rainfall here in the metro area with some locations across parts of southern Indiana see more than 7 in of rainfall. River levels will likely rise and we could see some flooding concerns heading into the weekend. For the end of the weekend and into early Monday we will see temperatures climb around 50°. Temperatures drop into the 40s on Tuesday under partly cloudy skies.
