FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — On Wednesday night, the Fort Wayne TinCaps opened up Parkview Field to show off this year's roster ahead of Opening Day.
"I'm super excited. I'm ready to see them go," said Joe Salas, a fan in attendance Wednesday.
Between getting autographs and touring the diamon
d, fans also received a taste of the season ahead.
A salty, savory and sweet taste.
"I'm really excited about the apple pancakes. We have apple grilled cheese, and that's really interesting," said Maley Tinstman, VIP Services Manager with the ballclub.
The two new items draw heavily on the TinCaps' love affair with all things Johnny Appleseed.
"It's a wrapped-up pancake, apple slices cinnamon. It's anything you could ever want," Tinstman said. "That Sunday morning it'll hit real hard."
Another new item will be a cheese steak burrito that Tinstman describes as "different," in addition to serving Cookie Cottage this year.
A new self-serve kiosk.
The organization also took notes from the Holiday Lights concessions and brought back cinnamon sugar pretzels for each concession stand.
"That will be a big hit," Tinstman said.
The signage has also been overhauled so each concession stand is its own distinct color to help guests. In addition, new self-service kiosks will aim to make transactions flow better.
"It is kind of like checking yourself at Walmart," Tinstman said. "You go up there and type up what you want, you wait and we bring it out to you." ...read more read less
