Denham Springs man charged after pedestrian hurt in hitandrun

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Anonymous tips helped lead to the arrest of a Denham Springs man in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left one person hurt on Saturday, March 29.
Brandon Chenevert, 30 was charged with negligent injuring, felony hit-and-run, failure to seek assistan
ce, obstruction of justice, possession of Schedule I with intent to distribute, possession of firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances and possession of Schedule III.
The Louisiana State Police said a pedestrian sustained severe injuries in this hit-and-run crash.
LSP responded around 9 p.m. to the scene of the crash on LA 1023.
The ensuing investigation found that the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle which then left by heading north on LA 1023, LSP said.
Police put out a request for information about the driver and vehicle involved in this hit-and-run crash.
Chenevert was identified as the driver of the vehicle via two anonymous tips on Tuesday, April 1.
A search warrant was obtained and executed by LSP. During the search, they found narcotics, guns, the suspect vehicle and damaged parts.
After his arrest, Chenevert was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center.
The investigation remains ongoing.
