SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Parking rates increased on Wednesday at some locations along the San Diego Bay waterfront. According to officials with the Port of San Diego, the changes at some meters and pay stations are meant to “boost parking space turnover.”
Moving forward, parking rates at th
e Spanish Landing pay stations and via the payment apps at 219 spaces will be $2 per hour, instead of $1.
Additionally, parking rates at Embarcadero Marina Parks North and South have gone up from $1.75 to $2.50 per hour. This only applies to hours between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
Shelter Island will also have higher parking rates for 283 of its parking meters. Visitors will now see an increase from $1.25 to $2.25 per hour.
Enforcement hours will be between 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. seven days a week. There is a three-hour time limit during enforcement hours, port officials stated.
Despite these increases, approximately 2,900 parking spaces will remain free.
