How Allen County 911 Center handles surge of calls amid storms

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — As WANE 15 brings coverage of the storm hitting Fort Wayne and the surrounding parts of northeast Indiana, the Fort Wayne Allen County 911 Center is also handling a high volume of phone calls regarding the storm and its damage.
Executive Director David Bubb said the de
partment started receiving phone calls this morning with incidents like power outages or downed trees.
The911 center's main goal is to connect these callers with the appropriate resources.
Bubb said they did make sure to have maximum staff for Wednesday night's shift and that they are prepared for anything the storms may bring.
"It can run the gamut, depending on the storm," Bubb said. "If you have wind events, that's going to create certain problems; if you have hail, that's going to create certain problems; you have water, rain, that's going to uproot trees. So, we're prepared to handle anything the storm may bring us."
Bubb said the atmosphere is pretty impressive during these severe weather moments in the call room and describes his team as a "well-oiled machine."
