(WOLO)– It’s prom season and before your teenagers grab their corsages, dress shoes and fancy duds for the big night the Cayce Police Department wants you to think about safety. The police department hosted a ‘Prom Promise’ event to remind student s the importance of being safe during the festivities. During the event police put on a dramatization with the help of drama students from the Brookland- Cayce high school to see an up close and personal look at the “effects and consequences” of getting behind the wheel when you are impaired. Cayce Police say they host this event every year in preparation of the formal event. Cayce Police admit it’s a very powerful message, but they hope it’s strong enough to remind these scholars how significant making safe choices are. Not only during prom season, but well after it’s over. The Cayce Police Department says the annual safety reminder is a realistic look at impaired accidents done with the help of community agencies including, the Cayce Fire Department, Carolina Fleet LLC, Tillman Towing, First Priority Medical Transport, Lexington School District Two, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
