ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - After an afternoon of sleet, graupel & thunderstorms, we're transitioning over to plain rain as we move forward into the evening and overnight hours.

We'll remain within an environment with elevated insta
bility into the night. Essentially, it a layer of warm air aloft (we call this an inversion) that will fuel additional thunderstorms. There is very little risk these storms will become severe. They are notable, however, because setups like this often cause particularly loud thunder as sound waves reverberate under that inversion. There could be some small hail and gusty winds involved, but often severe weather doesn't develop. It will also become generically windy into the night.
Highs tomorrow will try and kiss 70° with a few showers around, particularly early. We'll then start to dry out and enjoy a dry Friday as well.
Confidence is growing that we get rain Saturday along an extended stationary front that finds itself stretched from Texas to Maine. It could be an all day affair here with just a few breaks. The boundary shifts south on Sunday, but not by much.
