Fresno middle schools to take on 'Battle of the Books'

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - More than 100 middle school students in Fresno will put their brains to the test in a district-wide "Battle of the Books."
Over 100 students from across eight middle schools will face off on Friday in quizzes that will test their knowledge of 18 books they read throug
hout the school year, according to the Fresno Unified School District.
“I am excited to see our district highlight our students’ academic accomplishments, especially in reading. Fun events like Battle of the Books encourage excitement for reading and foster school spirit,” said Interim Superintendent Misty Her.
Battle of the Books is intended to showcase the district's emphasis on literacy and present an opportunity for students to demonstrate their book knowledge. FUSD says the top competitors can look forward to prizes.
The event will take place on Friday at Fresno City College’s West Fresno Center at 600 E. Church Ave. An elementary version will take place on April 25 at Hoover High School. ...read more read less
