Salem man charged with purchasing sex with minor after sting operation
Apr 02, 2025
A child predator sting operation resulted in the arrest of a Salem man accused of trying to meet and pay for sex with a detective posing as a minor.
Prosecutors in the Marion County District Attorney’s Office charged Logan A. Friesen, 28, on Wednesday with online sexual corruption of a child,
luring a minor and purchasing sex with a minor, according to court records.
The FBI started investigating Friesen when he tried to contact a 14-year-old girl through an online advertisement, according to Salem Police Department spokeswoman Angela Hedrick.
Friesen was trying to meet a Salem police detective posing as the minor when he was arrested around noon on Tuesday outside a business in the 1500 block of Northeast Broadway Street, Hedrick said.
Court records showed Friesen is accused of offering to pay for sex with the minor and used “an explicit verbal description of sexual conduct.”
He is being housed at the Polk County Jail on a “courtesy hold” but is being prosecuted in Marion County Circuit Court, according to the jail’s roster. He was being held without bail as of Wednesday afternoon.
