Elderly man missing overnight in Sonoma County found Wednesday by K9

(KRON) -- An 87-year-old man who went missing Tuesday evening was found by a search and rescue K-9 Wednesday morning, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office announced.
The man, who was considered at risk due to dementia and Parkinson’s disease, was last seen walking away from his home in the 5000 bl
ock of Vine Hill Road around 5 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said. According to the sheriff's office, the man "usually uses a walker, but his walker was found at his house.” He did not have a cell phone or any means of communication, a missing person report stated.

On Wednesday around 11 a.m., K-9 Bruce located the missing man in dense vegetation near his home, authorities said. He was transported to an area hospital for exposure to the elements.
The sheriff's office said it used drones, a helicopter, off-road vehicles and a search and rescue team in an effort to find the man. Three K-9 teams were provided by the California Rescue Dog Association, and the Sonoma County Regional Parks staff assisted with 15 people, according to authorities. ...read more read less
