PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — 401Gives raised well over its initial goal, with over $4.8 million donated by Wednesday night. 401Gives organizers said they were hopeful that this year would be the biggest yet, with a goal of $4.01 million. As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, the fundraiser received $4,884,300. Ov er 20,000 donors and 644 organizations donated to the fundraiser for the local nonprofits in Rhode Island. Foster Forward received the most donations, topping over $338,000. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center came in second, with $165,000 raised. Last year, the campaign raised $3.86 million.
