(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that a city-wide collaborative effort to clean trash around illegal campsites led to the arrest of a man wanted on a warrant out of Texas on Wednesday, April 2. According to CSPD, the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) was in teracting with people illegally camping around the area of America the Beautiful Park, near Colorado Avenue and South Sierra Madre Street, when the team encountered a man whom officers identified as 38-year-old Ricky James Custer. Custer was allegedly wanted on a warrant out of Texas identifying him as a sexually violent predator. Custer was arrested and charged with failure to register as a sex offender, according to CSPD.
