Second bulky waste collection in April to be set in Mojave

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Public Works division announced the second bulky waste collection event will take place in Mojave next Saturday.
The event is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. and continue until noon on April 12 at the Mojave Junior/Senior High School at 15732 O Street, a
ccording to county officials.
The bulky waste event allows county residents to drop off their residential bulky waste for free. These wastes include refrigerators, water heaters, mattresses, furniture, electronics, BBQ grills and other household items, county officials said.
Public works to host bulky waste collection in Ridgecrest
According to county officials, items not accepted include construction waste, demolition and remodeling waste, household trash, hazardous waste and commercial waste.
The Public Works division previously announced the first bulky waste collection event of April in Ridgecrest. The event will go from 8 a.m. to noon on April 5, at Leroy Jackson Park, located at 300 East French Avenue.
County officials said the event is meant to prevent illegal dumping in Kern County, as bulky residential items make up a significant portion of the waste at illegal dumpsites. ...read more read less
