Former NBA and Syracuse basketball legend Carmelo Anthony elected to Hall of Fame

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- 10-time NBA All-Star and 2003 NCAA Champion Carmelo Anthony has been elected into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
The news comes after Syracuse University announced on Tuesday, April 1, that Anthony will return to his alma mater to deliver SU's 2025
commencement address.

Anthony is one of the most famous one-and-done players in college basketball history. He led Syracuse to its only national championship in 2003.
Anthony was the third overall pick by the Denver Nuggets in the 2003 NBA draft. He was traded to the New York Knicks in 2011, scoring a career-high 62 points in a single game -- a record for both the Knicks and Madison Square Garden.
Anthony went on to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers. He's ranked as the tenth all-time leading scorer in the NBA.
Anthony is also one of the most successful Olympians in basketball history, winning 3 gold medals for Team USA -- in 2008, 2012, and 2016.
After spending 19 seasons in the NBA, Anthony retired in 2023. He retired as a six-time ALL-NBA selection and was named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team. ...read more read less
