SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A San Diego employer has been named in Fortune's list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, which was released Wednesday.
Scripps Health was named one of the top employers in th
e country by the business magazine for the 17th time. This year, it was the only company in San Diego County to make the list.
It came in at No. 97 out of 100 selected based on 1.3 million confidential survey responses from employees. The responses were only considered if they came from people who work at companies that earned the Great Place To Work certification.

To qualify for a place on the list, companies were assessed on how well they enhance the employee experience across job levels, business units, races, ages, genders, disability status, and others.
In a news release Wednesday announcing the coveted distinction, Scripps said it has helped improve workplace safety, supported workers in their personal and professional lives, and offered them professional development opportunities.
"Our people are our greatest strength, and we're proud to continually invest highly in their development, well-being and success," said Chris Van Gorder, Scripps Health president and CEO.
Scripps Health was founded in 1924 by Ellen Browning Scripps, a philanthropist whose name extends beyond health care. She helped found the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, La Jolla Woman's Club and The Bishop's School.
Additionally, a City of San Diego park is named in her honor at 1100 Coast Blvd. in La Jolla.
Scripps currently consists of five acute-care hospital campuses, home health care services, 30 outpatient centers and clinics and hundreds of affiliated physician offices. ...read more read less
