WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Madeline Smith was announced as the Sedgwick County "I voted" sticker contest winner on Wednesday. The announcement was made at the county commission meeting.
The Valley Center High School senior's design was chosen from more than 200 entries received from students in gra
des six through 12. Smith talked about her inspiration for the design.
"I grew up in the country, so I know Sedgwick County and everything for all of its sunsets, and so I really wanted to do something like that, but kind of put my own twist on it," she said.

A panel of judges chose the winning designs. The stickers will be handed to voters during the 2025 primary and general elections.
"Thousands of voters will now wear Madeline’s design on the sticker they get at the polls or with an advance ballot,” Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Laura Rainwater said. “This contest is a fun way to get students involved in elections, even before some of them are old enough to vote.”
Riley McAlister, an eighth-grade student at Derby North Middle School, and Ruby Dalbom, a ninth-grade homeschool student at St. Michael’s Academy, took second and third place.
