MANHATTAN (KSNT) - The Manhattan City Commission unanimously motioned to move forward on a lease agreement with a major Topeka manufacturer.
The Manhattan City Commission was told the Flint Hills Venture Group (FHVG) has a potential tenant for their property at 1105 Kretschmer Drive: metal fabri
cation company PTMW Inc. The employer would seek job creation and investment grant incentives.
The expansion would see $14 million invested by the company with $3.4 million invested into the building and $11 million invested into machinery, according to a presentation by the FHVG. The City would offer a $250,000 investment grant contingent on the $11 million investment.

Another incentive discussed was a jobs grant based on annual wages ranging from $4,000 to $12,000 or roughly 10% of an employee's wage. Under the proposed grant, if all jobs created in year one are sustained for 10 years the company would realize $760,000 with a $76,000 yearly cap.
The commission voted unanimously to move the economic development agreement consideration to the next regular meeting on April 15. You can watch the April 1 commission meeting again by clicking here.
