Springfield man charged with trafficking cocaine in North Adams

ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) - A Springfield man was arrested on Friday in North Adams in connection with trafficking crack cocaine.

The North Adams Police Department said that detectives were conducting an ongoi
ng narcotics investigation in Adams in collaboration with the Berkshire County Drug Task Force. On Friday, North Adams detectives and Adams officers were conducting surveillance of a location based on information they had received.
During the investigation, detectives detained David Lewis Jr. of Springfield and searched him and his vehicle. Officers found approximately 55.1 grams of crack cocaine, with a street value of approximately $3,306-$4,408. They also found approximately $4,240 in cash.

Lewis was arrested and charged with Trafficking Cocaine 36-100 grams. He was held on $20,000 cash bail pending his arraignment. On Monday, Lewis was arraigned in Northern Berkshire District Court and was held on $5,000 cash bail.
