DURANGO, Colo. (KRQE) — A man was arrested on Wednesday in southwest Colorado after police say he fired shots at a local recreation center. Joe Brinkerhoff, 76, of Durango, is being charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, according to the Durango Police Department. Trial against form er APD officer accused of false imprisonment continues Police say the suspect fired into the front-facing window of Durango Recreation Center at about 12:40 a.m. The front entry window was destroyed. This was discovered by employees while they were opening the center Wednesday morning. Police received the call at 5:23 a.m. Brinkerhoff was identified as the suspect through video surveillance. According to the Durango Police Department, Brinkerhoff had been asked to leave the property due to a prior incident, and his rec center privileges were suspended. The investigation continues.
