PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The American Red Cross in Rhode Island and the City of Providence will provide city residents with free smoke alarms for their Sound the Alarm fire safety event that will take place on April 30.
This event has helped install over 9,500 free smoke alarms in Rhode Island,
affecting 3,400 households in the state.
The devices are donated by multiple partners, including Rhode Island Energy, Stanley Black and Decker and Amica Insurance.
“Early warning from a smoke alarm can make all the difference in a fire emergency,” said Susan Roberts, Executive Director of the American Red Cross in Rhode Island. “Together with the City of Providence, we’re working to bring this essential protection to residents who need it most.”
