Lancaster County Sheriff's Cruiser (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)WAVERLY–(KFOR Apr. 2)–Deputies on Tuesday were called out to Waverly High School, on a report of a gun found in a student’s vehicle.
Lancaster County Chief Deputy Sheriff Ben Houchin says school administrators searched the 17-year-old’
s vehicle and found a loaded .22 caliber handgun. This all stemmed from a disturbance in the school’s parking lot, where water guns were involved and a student being harassed reported it to administrators. Houchin says 60 rounds of ammo were also found in the vehicle. He says the student that had the gun had been out hunting the night before, but his parents didn’t know the weapon was with him.
There was no evidence found of that the student had possession of the gun to do harm or target anyone.
The teen was cited on suspicion of felony possession of a firearm on school grounds, minor in possession of a handgun, criminal mischief and disturbing the peace, before being released to his parents.
