VERNON COUNTY, Mo. — Early Wednesday morning storms leave a path of destruction across Vernon County.
First responders say the tornado sirens in Nevada sounded around 7:15 a.m.
We've seen roofs blown off houses, semi-trailers turned over, and power lines across the road.
Some o
f the most extensive damage is at the intersection of Indiana and Austin.
A secondary search of the county is being done to make sure they haven't missed anyone with injuries. First responders are meeting as we speak to determine the next steps in that.

Also in Vernon County, the town of Moundville was hit hard by these tornadic storms.
Around the same time Wednesday morning residents in this small community took cover as the storm shredded trees, homes, and buildings.
One business that was destroyed was Bott’s Moundville Service Station. Thankfully, the owner, Craig Bott, had not yet made it into work.
The business has been owned by the Bott family for over 55 years.
Patti Bott told us her husband restores old vehicles and had just finished a customer’s restoration.
Bott says she was at work when she heard about the storm, and while their home wasn’t damaged, and no one was hurt, life is not going to be the same.
First responders were on the scene quickly checking structures for anyone who might be injured, but so far, it appears everyone in Moundville is safe.
The extent of the damage in Moundville is still being surveyed, but residents have already started picking up the pieces. ...read more read less
