Colorado Rockies return to Denver for home opener amid cold, snowy forecast

DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Rockies will be back in Denver for the home opener on Friday, but it won't feel like the warm summer nights at Coors Field just yet.

Now, the Rockies are coming home for a fresh start, and greeting the team will be fans in purple and temperatures in the 40s, with some possible rain and even snow.
Forecast for Rockies home opener on Friday
It will be chilly heading into the home opener. The Pinpoint Weather team expects a winter system to move in Thursday morning, bringing snow and cold temperatures. The southern mountains are expected to get a few inches, but the metro won't see much, if any.
By Friday, temperatures will stay below average in the afternoon. At first pitch, it's expected to be 45 degrees, with increasing clouds and possible evening showers. Then, it will cool into the stretch at 43 degrees and end at 40 degrees.
The Pinpoint Weather team said there could be rain and maybe even some snow as the game comes to an end. The rain will change to snow after the game, which will last through Saturday morning.
