BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- As grape season is approaching right around the corner, the city of McFarland is inviting the community to celebrate the occasion together for the first time. The city of McFarland will host its first annual Grape Festival next Saturday. The McFarland Grape Festiv al will officially open to the public at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m., on April 12, according to the city of McFarland. McFarland K9 officer Khan gets new ballistic vest The festival aims to kick off the grape season and strengthen the community pride in McFarland, while highlighting the beauty of the city, according to a presentation that will be shown at the city council meeting. According to the agenda for the McFarland City Council meeting on April 2, the festival will feature live music performances, vendor booths, food trucks, cooking demonstrations and gardening workshops. There will also be a “Kids Zone” providing fun activities for children, such as face painting, arts and crafts and a petting zoo, the agenda said.
