Former Charles County school employee indicted on child sex abuse charges

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Charles County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) said a grand jury indicted a former high school employee on several sexual abuse charges after he was accused of offering a student money in exchange for sexual acts.
In an announcement on April 1, the sheriff's offic
e said detectives took 28-year-old John Alan Lynch, of Indian Head, into custody on an arrest warrant.
Deputies said that on Jan. 23, Lynch allegedly contacted a student through a social media app and offered her money for sexual favors. During this time, he worked as a building service worker at Henry E. Lackey High School.

The sheriff's office said that the student told school staff and the school's resource officer about what happened.
During the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigation Divisions reviewed the messages that Lynch allegedly sent the student. Officials said the messages showed Lynch made inappropriate requests.
Investigators encourage anyone who may have been inappropriately contacted by Lynch to call 301-609-6554.
The investigation is ongoing.
