Weather Forecast: Warmer air incoming with damaging wind possible
Apr 02, 2025
ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Rain approaches along a warm front today and we see drops by the afternoon as temperatures get into the 40s and 50s. There could be some heavier downpours along this boundary through the evening, but we get a break overnight. It's also breezy with gusts 30-40 mph. A wind advis
ory is in effect for the Finger Lakes tonight.
Temperatures keep climbing into Thursday morning, and we get into the 60s by late morning with more rain showers. By this time, the parent low will be to the north in Canada, sending the cold front overhead. There could be some thunderstorms along this boundary through mid-day, but those storms taper and temperatures come down Thursday afternoon and night.
High pressure Friday keeps us quiet. It's a dry day before yet another busy stretch heading into the weekend. Confidence is growing that we get rain Saturday along an extended stationary front that finds itself stretched from Texas to Maine. It could be an all day affair here with just a few breaks. The boundary shifts south on Sunday, but not by much. The Euro (and Canadian, which isn't that reliable but I like to check occasionally) are keeping rain around through the second half of the weekend. The GFS is our only hope for having a dry Sunday. It's looking unlikely and I'll probably lean toward the wetter solution. The system should kick east by Monday and we get a blast of cooler air, into the 20s and 30s through Tuesday. ...read more read less
