The Trenton City Museum is accepting submissions for the Ellarslie Open, its annual juried art show, from April 6 through May 16 via an online portal. Sheryl Liebman Fisher, Associate Director of Gallery Henoch in New York City, will serve as juror for the 2025 exhibition.
Artists from any location
may submit up to four works. Complete instructions and timeline are available at ellarslie.org/eo42, with the submission portal opening on Sunday, April 6. The exhibition features five categories: Paintings, Works on Paper, Sculpture, Photography, and Digital Art. The Best In Show Overall award includes a $1000 prize, with additional cash prizes for category and sponsored awards.
The Ellarslie Open has become the region’s leading annual juried exhibition since its inception in the early 1980s. The 2024 show featured 110 pieces selected from 555 entries, with participating artists from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and beyond. The 2025 exhibition will open with a reception on Saturday, June 21, and run through September 7. Programs related to the exhibition will be announced later.
Fisher, the 2025 juror, developed her interest in contemporary art while studying Art History and Business at New York University. She brings over 20 years of gallery experience from New York City and London to her current role as Associate Director at Gallery Henoch in Manhattan. Fisher holds a certificate in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts from NYU and the Appraisers Association of America.
The Trenton City Museum is located in Ellarslie Mansion, an 1848 Italianate Villa in Cadwalader Park. The City of Trenton owns the building, while the nonprofit Trenton Museum Society manages operations. The museum is open Thursday through Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free, though donations are accepted.
