The City of Trenton has formed a Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Committee under the Complete and Green Streets Ordinance to enhance road safety and transportation options.
The committee includes members from city departments, residents, elected officials, community organizations, and regional stakehold
ers who will work on policies and infrastructure improvements for safer streets.
The SS4A Committee held its first meeting in January and met again on Monday, March 24, to establish priorities and develop action items. Committee representatives attended the Trenton Cycling Revolution Open House on Saturday, March 22, to collect public input on committee priorities.
“This committee represents a collaborative effort to make Trenton’s streets safer for everyone—whether walking, biking, rolling or driving,” said Mayor Reed Gusciora. “By bringing together key stakeholders and engaging with the community, we are taking a proactive approach to reducing traffic injuries and fatalities while enhancing mobility options for all residents.”
The committee will update policies, procedures, and plans for transportation infrastructure improvements, covering pavement management, funding, planning and design, and operations and maintenance. These efforts align with Mercer County’s Vision Zero planning and New Jersey’s Target Zero Commission, which aims to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries on state roadways by 2040.
Residents can monitor the committee’s progress on the Safe Streets, Complete Streets, and Trails Planning page on the City of Trenton website. For more information, contact Lisa Serieyssol at lserieyssol@trentonnj.org. ...read more read less
