e clearer from clouds with the strong upper-level jet stream steering clouds very quickly south of I-40 with surface temperatures around or below the freezing mark in the northwestern two-thirds of the region, while leftover northwesterly persistent winds are moving to the southeast.

Passing clouds with mostly some high-elevation precipitation is in store today with still dry-enough air, as well as gusty-enough winds, for not only more dust, but also, for the elevated to critical fire threat in South New Mexico through the Eastern Plains; but, elsewhere will be less-breezy with high temperatures mostly in the the 50s and 60s, in the 70s in parts of Southeast New Mexico through the Permian Basin, while reaching the 30s to the low 50s out west through the high elevations of the Northern Mountains.
The next stronger storm system will move farther to the south in New Mexico later this week with rounds of more-widespread rain and snow with lower temperatures being accompanied by some gusty winds. ...read more read less
