It should come as no surprise that “mom” is at the top of the list. The sacrifices that families make on the road to turning an NBA dream into a reality bonds these players to their loved ones.
Victor Wembanyama, Devin Vassell, Stephon Castle, Blake Wesley, Malaki Branham, Jeremy Sochan, and Keldon Johnson all reference their moms first and foremost.
Branham added a nog to his grandma.
In addition to his mom, Harrison Barnes mentioned his wife, who he referred to as a superhero.
Chris Paul has been with his wife since he was eighteen. She, along with their daughter, are his most influential women.
Julian Champagnie gave the honors to his fiancee.
Charles Bassey mentioned his stepmom. Bassey lost his mother at the age of fourteen, shortly after arriving in the United States and his stepmom has made a huge impact.
Mamu directed his love to his aunt Eteri Andjaparidze, an NYU professor and Grammy-nominated musician. Their story is incredible.
Shout out to all the women who inspire you.
