Heightened severe weather threat tonight; all modes in play across the state
Apr 02, 2025
This morning starts with spotty showers and thundershowers, as winds are increasing and temperatures milder out-the-door! Keep that umbrella nearby for the morning commute, although a lot of dry space on the map, as a warm front lift across the state.
This afternoon will bring windy cond
itions, plenty of dry hours and a huge rise in temperatures. Highs this afternoon will reach the upper 70s, with wind gusts of up to 50 mph. A Wind Advisory will be in effect until 1 a.m. Thursday.
Tonight will be busy. The severe threat will begin around 5 p.m. in western Indiana and quickly move east, sweeping the entire state. The major threats involve damaging winds and large hail, but a tornado forming within these storms will be possible. Heavy rainfall will be likely, especially for the southern half of the state.
Be sure to stay ahead of the storms with our "Weather Authority" app and check in with us often tonight during our early evening newscast on updates and warnings.
Additional showers and storms will redevelop tomorrow afternoon and into the evening. Unsettled weather will remain through Sunday, as a flood threat will rise Friday night through Sunday morning.
