A man convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend outside a daycare and accused of murdering a sheriff’s deputy is sentenced to 66 years in prison. A judge delivered Orlando Mitchell’s punishment Tuesday for killing Krystal Walton. Mitchell is due in court next month on charges that he killed Deputy John Durm during an escape attempt.
President Trump says he will unveil sweeping new tariffs today. It’s not yet clear what the specifics will be, but the administration indicates they will take effect immediately and will apply to most or all imports from across the world. The Senate is set to vote today on a measure that would block Trump’s duties on Canadian goods.

Val Kilmer has died. The actor famed for playing Doc Holliday, Jim Morrison, Batman, and Iceman was 65. He battled health problems, including throat cancer, for several years. His daughter says he died of pneumonia Tuesday.
