ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) — A multiple-time convicted felon has been charged in connection with an assault and shooting in Robeson County, authorities said Tuesday.
Fabian J. Perez, 40, of Hope Mills, North Carolina, was apprehended Sunday after about a 30-minute standoff with Robeson County
deputies, according to the sheriff's office. He was charged with first-degree kidnapping, felonious restraint, assault by strangulation, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, assault on a female, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Deputies responded just before 5 p.m. Sunday to Highway 301 N. for a female being assaulted, the sheriff's office said. He was taken into custody after negotiations with authorities.
Perez is also charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. That charge stems from him allegedly shooting into a random house in the area of W. Parkton Tobermory Road on Friday, deputies said.
Perez was booked into the Robeson County Detention Center and given a $501,000 secured bond. ...read more read less
