SURRY COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) -- A man is dead following a multi-vehicle crash in Surry County on Interstate 77 on Tuesday, according to a North Carolina State Highway Patrol news release. Around 8:25 a.m., troopers responded to and investigated a fatal crash in Surry County on I-77 near MM 86. A white 2024 Volvo tractor-trailer was stopped southbound in the lefthand lane for traffic ahead. A white 2017 Chevrolet Equinox was going south on I-77 in the southbound lane and rear-ended the white Volvo Tractor-trailer. The Equinox was occupied by a driver and front right passenger. A purple 2021 Honda CR-V also hit the white Equinox in the back. The driver of the 2017 Equinox, Russell K. Losser, 51, of Galax, Virginia, died on the scene. The front right passenger was hurt and taken to a hospital. The driver of the Volvo tractor-trailer wasn't hurt.
