CHOWCHILLA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Two people from Beachwood were arrested, and one more person from Atwater is wanted following a burglary in which suspects took around $100,000 from a business in Chowchilla.
Officers say they responded to a call of a commercial burglary alarm in the 3000 block o
f East Robertson Boulevard. Upon arrival, responding officers found major damage to the front entrance of a building and signs of missing property.
After reviewing surveillance video and investigating the scene, police said it was determined that a white Ford truck backed into the doors of the business. Once there, three masked men pulled a 700-pound safe out of the business utilizing the trucks and chains. The loss was estimated at around $100,000.
During the investigation, the police department bought 19 license plate readers, as well as dozens of cameras, and placed them throughout the city. They say this purchase was thanks to Measure N funds.
With the new equipment, detectives say they identified a white Ford F350, which was stolen out of Delhi. They determined the vehicle had originally been assigned license plates, but they were removed and replaced with new ones before the burglary. Later, they identified a home in the Franklin/Beachwood areas off of Beachwood Drive and Ashby Road in Merced County as a potential suspect location.
Investigators report they found the suspect vehicle behind a home while searching the area. A search warrant was obtained for the home, and upon serving it, detectives located several items of stolen property from the burglary.
The items were confiscated, and police say two of the three suspects in this case, identified as 36-year-old Brandon Dubos and 55-year-old David Nesbitt, were arrested. Both are from Beachwood.
The third suspect, who officers identified as 36-year-old Raymond Santistevan of Atwater, is still outstanding. Detectives add he is a "parolee at large" and has a long criminal history related to theft. ...read more read less
