SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The San Diego Humane Society took in a Vietnamese Pot-bellied pig named "Miss Piggy" Tuesday from a home in the Grant Hill neighborhood.
A family member of the pig's owner, who recently died, reached out to SDHS for help to take care of the animal, the animal shelter sai
d in a news release.
The humane society's law enforcement team needed additional support from SDHS' Emergency Response Team to transport Miss Piggy, who weighs more than 250 pounds.

The pig was safely taken from the backyard of the home to SDHS' Escondido campus. She will receive a full veterinary exam on Wednesday, according to animal officials.
"For now, Miss Piggy is under 'Emergency Boarding' status while we work to determine if any next of kin would like to take her in," SDHS said in the release.
Miss Piggy will go up for adoption if no family members come forward. ...read more read less
