Kansas City hosts career fair hoping to hire federal workers impacted by DOGE

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The City of Kansas City, Missouri is hoping to hire some of the Federal workers impacted by Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts.

Since the cuts beg
an, hundreds of thousands of federal workers have been wondering if they'd receive an email or call impacting their job future.
For Armina Brazzel, who's set to return to the USDA's downtown Kansas City office next week, that came Tuesday afternoon.
"I currently am still employed but as of an hour ago, we did have all hands call saying soon to come, we will be riffed," Brazzel said.
RIF, means reduction in force. At the same time the City of Kansas City is looking to increase its staffing, hiring more than 80 open positions across more than a dozen departments. The city says it will expedite federal workers' applications.
"We wanted to reach out to them because it is just unfortunate everything that happen. So many people losing so many positions, so many being laid off. So we wanted to say hey guys we are right down the street and your skillset will transfer over to the city just come over and give us a shot!" LaToya Black, City of Kansas City talent acquisition manager, said.
Seven-year veteran federal worker Patrice Perkins job with Office of Personnel Management is set to be eliminated at the end of the month.
"When you had made plans and career goals and to have all of that uprooted yeah it's very life changing," she said.
Each worker facing uncertainty in their careers we spoke with said they are thankful for the potential opportunity, at a time when they've had to rely on faith bills and mortgages would keep getting paid.

"I don't have faith in upper management, anybody in the White House, anybody in D.C., my faith is in the Lord and he guides my path and that's all I'm concerned with," Brazzel said.
