FORECAST: Chilly tonight, clouds roll back in Wednesday
Apr 01, 2025
What a difference a day, and a switch to a new month, can make! It was much chillier today behind the cold front and storms, with temperatures stuggling to get out of the 40s and 50s after being in the 80s the last few days. Breezy northwest winds had a lot to say about that, with high pressure quic
kly passing to our north and kicking these winds up. As this high slides to our northeast, it will calm down tonight under clear skies to start. Lows will fall into the 30s and 40s again, but clouds will return by sunrise as easterly winds develop.
Most of the day will be cloudy on Wednesday, thanks to easterly winds at the start of the day followed by an approaching warm front in the afternoon. A few breaks of sunshine around lunchtime coupled with breezy southerly winds will help us push back into the 60s. Most of us will stay dry, but a wave of showers and a few storms my clip by along the PA-MD line before the day is over. Clouds linger as temperatures really ramp up Wednesday night into Thursday. Lows will barely fall back into the 50s, followed by highs skyrocketing back into the 80s.
All of this warmth will kick off a stretch of unsettled weather, as several fronts push through and linger nearby. A cold front will arrive Thursday afternoon, bringing showers and a few thunderstorms. At this point, the threat of severe weather is low, but a couple stronger storms could develop with how warm it will be. This cold front stalls south of the DMV on Friday and Saturday, keeping us cloudy with isolated to scattered showers in the forecast. Temperatures will be a bit cooler, but we'll warm back up into Sunday as this front lifts back north. Scattered rain and a few storms will give us a soggier day as another cold front sweeps through and finally clears everything out to end the weekend. It will get colder with sunnier skies for early next week after the front is gone.
Have a great Tuesday night!
