Pedestrian critically injured in north Salem crash Tuesday morning

A collision Tuesday morning in the Highland neighborhood left a pedestrian critically injured, according to the Salem Police Department.
A 64-year-old man driving a pickup truck struck a 58-year-old man around 9:45 a.m., according to Salem police spokesman Angela Hedrick.

spitalized in critical condition, Salem police said on X just after 11:30 a.m.
Police did not identify the driver or pedestrian.
Hedrick said in an email that she had no information about “the circumstances resulting in the collision.”
The 1900 block of Northeast Broadway Street was closed between Northeast River and Academy streets due to the crash. The area is south of Highland Park.
UPDATE at 1135: Officers are preparing to reopen the roadway for through traffic after this collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
