(KRON) -- A San Rafael camera shop that served as a hub for photographers since 1947 was ransacked by thieves early Monday morning.
The owners of Seawood Photo said the shop on 4th Street was "hit by a devastating robbery." Just after 2:30 a.m. Monday, thieves rammed a car through the shop's front
window. They stole between $40,000-$50,000 in equipment and caused $10,000 in damages, a GoFundMe page states.

A beloved shop cat, named Flash, was shaken up by the break-in but unharmed. "While cleaning broken glass and cameras, neighbors, concerned citizens, and nearby high school students stopped by, asking what happened. They expressed love for our store and concern for Flash, the shop cat. She was found hiding and consoled with treats," the page states.
Photographs of the break-in's aftermath shows glass display cases shattered and lenses scattered across the floor.

Seawood Photo serves as a place where new photographers find their first cameras, professionals connect, and generations share their love for the craft, the page writes.

"We’re more than a store; we’re a home for artists, storytellers, and dreamers," the shop's owners wrote. "Almost daily, someone walks in, marveling that a place like Seawood still exists. We'll do everything possible to keep this special place alive and well for future generations. Our doors remain open for all of you."
