UPDATE: The Tallahassee Police Department says the southbound lane on Old Bainbridge Road has been reopened after responding to the 1300 Block of Raa Avenue in reference to shots fired in the area.According to TPD while on the s cene, officers learned that an adult male fired a shot near the rear of the residence and was currently armed with a handgun. TPD Officers and Leon County sheriff's deputies responded, and surrounding residences were evacuated.Responding units observed the man sitting in the backyard of his home and attempted to negotiate a peaceful surrender, and convinced the subject to place the gun down. During the negotiations, the subject retrieved the firearm and discharged it. Sadly, the man succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.ORIGINAL:The Tallahassee Police Department is currently on the scene of an armed suicidal subject.The incident is in the 1300 block of Raa Avenue. According to TPD, all southbound traffic on Old Bainbridge Road from Yapoun Avenue to Raa Ave is being rerouted. TPD are advising motorists to avoid the area. This is a developing story.
