RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond City Sheriff’s Office has partnered with multiple Baptist churches in the area to provide mobile showers, starting Tuesday.
The program, "Dignity on the Go: Mobile Showers," will launch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, at The Saint Paul’s Baptist
Church, located on 700 East Belt Blvd.
According to city officials, the Saint Paul’s Baptist Church, Richmond’s First Baptist Church and the Baptist General Association of Virginia have partnered with the Richmond City Sheriff’s Office to provide free and accessible hygiene services to people without homes.
Aside from the private stall mobile showers, officials said that, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, this initiative will also provide food to people while they wait, grab-and-go snack bags and other resources, including housing assistance, HIV testing and grief counseling.
The city will bring clean, safe and private shower facilities to those in need, restoring "dignity, promot[ing] health and improv[ing] overall well-being," according to officials.
