A severe storm threat for Wednesday; a Flood Watch will continue through Sunday

High pressure gave us a chilly start to the day with sunny skies and high temperatures in the 50s.
Clouds began to build in the afternoon and will continue to increase overnight as another storm system approaches from the west. The first wave of rain will arrive ahead of a warm front just before
sunrise. The boundary will move northeast over the region and allow temperatures to quickly jump into the lower 70s behind it.
Wednesday will be another active weather day for Indiana. A Wind Advisory will be in effect from 8 a.m. Wednesday through 1 a.m. Thursday for wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour. The entire state is highlighted under another Enhanced (Level 3 of 5) severe weather risk. An isolated strong storm cannot be ruled out early Wednesday morning. The main threats early in the morning include large hail and downpours. However, the more severe weather risk for central Indiana will occur in the evening and early overnight.
1-2 inches of rain are likely Wednesday night and all severe threats are possible, including damaging winds and tornadoes. You will want to have ways to receive severe weather alerts.
Another concern we are watching for is the flooding potential, as Wednesday's rainfall will be the beginning of an extended stretch of wet weather for the state. A Flood Watch will be in effect for the southern half of Indiana from Wednesday evening through Sunday morning.
There will be multiple rounds of rainfall through Sunday morning, which will dump several inches of rain. Scattered showers and storms are likely late Thursday through Friday and an additional 1-2 inches of rain are likely. Heavy rain and gusty winds will continue through Saturday. By Sunday, storm totals from the week of rain will approach 6 inches over the southern half of the state with heavier rain expected farther south through the Tennessee Valley.
