39yearold Fond du Lac man surrenders to authorities month after 23.5 mile police pursuit

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) - A 39-year-old man identified as the suspect in a 23.5-mile police pursuit that occurred in and around Fond du Lac on February 27 surrendered himself on April 1 at the Fond du Lac County Courthouse.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff, Ronnie Johnson of Fond du
Lac turned himself in, had an initial court hearing and was then taken into the Fond du Lac County Jail on multiple charges:
Probation Hold
Failure to Maintain Sex Offender Registry
Sex Offender - Failure to Update Information
Sex Offender - Using a Different Name
Sex Offender - Failure to Provide Information
Two counts of 1st-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety
Two counts of Fleeing/Eluding Officers

Johnson is also held on a $500,000 cash bond. The incident occurred around 10:55 a.m. on February 27 when a Fond du Lac County Sergeant tried to stop a vehicle that was speeding on I-41, with the vehicle operated by somebody previously known to officials.
A pursuit was engaged after Johnson accelerated; however, due to traffic and extreme speeds, the roughly eight-mile pursuit was terminated. Later, another deputy saw the same vehicle being reckless on the roads, and an additional pursuit was started.

This pursuit lasted nearly twice as long, going about 15.5 miles before it was terminated for the potential danger it posed. The total pursuit lasted about 23.5 miles.
